LIGHTING FOR EVENTS – PARTIES – SPECIAL EFFECTS

There is a wide range of lighting available for outdoor party use. Outdoor lighting creates a great party atmosphere and also enables guests to safety see when at your venue.
Traditional lighting at events has taken the form of fairy lights and the occasional spot lights positioned at statues and featured objects. In recent years with the advance in electronics and portable generators outdoor lighting has taken a leap forward with visual display screens now common especially at large functions such as concerts and special events – festivals, galas, shows.
Mobile display screens form a fabulous backdrop to any party, celebration, or event. When linked to a computer on site; photographs, videos, and colourful displays can be projected with virtually no limit to the visual effects possible.

Power Requirements: For most outdoor events the power requirements for outdoor lighting can be small or large depending on the size of the venue and the amount of illumination required. A private party with only a few guests will require nothing more than a standard mains electric power supply (240 volt). For marquee lighting a different solution is needed – usually in the form of a petrol or diesel generator with multiple power take offs.
—————
A high powered generator will allow high output type lights to be used similar to the ones fitted on portable lighting towers. The lamps fitted to these units are normally halogen or halide type fitments which are capable of projecting a powerful and wide spread of light.
—————
An alternative to electric lighting is the use of gas powered torches. Gas flame torches can be used with great effect especially at entrances to venue locations such as gate posts and drive ways. Care has to be taken especially as to regards the storage and movement of any bottled gas if this type of party furniture is used.
